Step into Pollyanna’s Antiques this week and you’ll find our newest centerpiece display, a French Country Luncheon that feels straight from a sunlit farmhouse in Provence. Lace, linen, candlelight, and a soft tumble of peach blooms set the table for a slow afternoon meal, the kind where the bread is fresh, the conversation is unhurried, and the silver catches the light just so.

The table itself wears a vintage ivory lace cloth, layered over rich wood, with each place set in delicate china and footed glassware. A pair of antique white ladderback chairs flanks one side, while a graceful gilt and mirrored seat anchors the other, a small reminder that French country style has never been afraid of a little glamour. Tall taper candles in turned wooden holders rise from each end, leading the eye toward a sweeping floral centerpiece in soft apricot and cream.

Look closely and you’ll catch the little touches that make a Pollyanna’s vignette feel lived in. A vintage fur stole draped easily over the back of a chair, as if its wearer had just stepped away. A pair of green gingham hatboxes tucked beside the table. A weathered architectural door panel behind the setting, lending depth and that wonderful sense of a much older room.

It’s an inviting reminder that an antique table need not be reserved for holidays. With a length of lace, a few candlesticks, and flowers from the market, any Wednesday luncheon can feel like a celebration.

Come see the French Country Luncheon in person at Pollyanna’s Antiques in downtown Mt. Clemens, open Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday from 10 AM to 4 PM. Bring a friend, linger awhile, and dream up your own table.
