As summer winds down and autumn takes its place, we have dressed one of our favorite corners of the shop in the warm colors of the season. Amber glass, sunflowers, and gourds gather across a leaf-strewn table, all set against a glowing forest of red and gold, and the whole scene is practically an invitation to pull up a chair and stay awhile.
At the heart of it is a fall table setting ready for a harvest supper: places laid with autumn china, a runner of scarlet maple leaves, pressed amber goblets catching the lamplight, and a generous centerpiece of sunflowers and dried blooms spilling from the middle. A crocheted throw waits over a pressed-back chair, and a picnic basket sits close by, the kind of cozy touches that make a table feel like home.
Look a little further and the corner keeps giving. China cabinets glow with pressed glass and transferware, a polished silver tea service waits on the sideboard, brass and stoneware lamps stand ready to warm a room, and a proud cast rooster keeps watch over it all. Every piece in the scene is waiting for a new home and a table of its own.
This is the season for gathering, and few things set the mood like a table dressed with pieces that have a little history in them. Come wander this fall display in person and imagine your own holiday table taking shape.
